- Each governor-at-large was nominated by Academy President Janet Yang and confirmed by the Board to serve a three-year term beginning with the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
- With these additions, the 55-member Board now comprises 30 women (55%) and 17 governors (31%) from underrepresented communities.
- The governors-at-large positions were created in 2016 after the #OscarsSoWhite controversy to improve diversity and bring new perspectives to the Academy’s leadership.
