Abubakar Salim Announces Personal New Game 'Tales of Kenzera: ZAU'

Inspired by Bantu mythology, the game explores the protagonist's journey through grief after losing his father.

Abubakar Salim, known for his role as Bayek in Assassin’s Creed Origins, has founded Surgent Studios and announced a new game, 'Tales of Kenzera: ZAU'.
The game is a 2.5D sidescrolling Metroidvania, inspired by Bantu tales and mythology from Africa, and is being published as an Electronic Arts Original.
'Tales of Kenzera: ZAU' is a deeply personal project for Salim, dealing with the grief of losing his father, who introduced him to video games.
The game's protagonist, Zau, is a young warrior shaman trying to bring his father back from the dead, guided by Kalunga, the God of Death.
'Tales of Kenzera: ZAU' is set to release on April 23, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
