Overview
- The Integrated Transport Centre, part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, launched the RoboSweepers along the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
- Vehicles use sensors and modern navigation to follow pre-programmed routes, cleaning and sanitising pavements and pedestrian areas without direct human control.
- The project was developed by Autogo, a subsidiary of K2, with oversight from the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council and management by DMT and ITC.
- Officials say the rollout is intended to improve operational efficiency, enhance public hygiene and reduce reliance on manual labour.
- Authorities present the deployment as a step in a broader autonomous mobility strategy that also includes expanded robotaxis and a delivery pilot in Masdar City.
