Abu Dhabi Deploys Autonomous RoboSweeper Fleet to Clean the Corniche

The city’s new cleaners, built by K2’s Autogo under the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council’s supervision, signal a push to integrate autonomous systems into daily services.

Overview

  • The Integrated Transport Centre, part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, launched the RoboSweepers along the Abu Dhabi Corniche.
  • Vehicles use sensors and modern navigation to follow pre-programmed routes, cleaning and sanitising pavements and pedestrian areas without direct human control.
  • The project was developed by Autogo, a subsidiary of K2, with oversight from the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council and management by DMT and ITC.
  • Officials say the rollout is intended to improve operational efficiency, enhance public hygiene and reduce reliance on manual labour.
  • Authorities present the deployment as a step in a broader autonomous mobility strategy that also includes expanded robotaxis and a delivery pilot in Masdar City.
