- Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events selected the Glenview spruce as the city’s 112th official Christmas tree.
 - Homeowners Ryan and Jody Mason say the tree was planted as a sapling in the early 1980s by a previous owner.
 - City crews scheduled the cutting for 10 a.m. Monday, with transport to Millennium Park later in the week.
 - The public lighting is set for Friday, Nov. 21 in Millennium Park and will be broadcast live on CBS Chicago.
 - The family is collecting pine cones so Jody Mason’s father can grow new trees from its seeds at his Indiana farm.
