Abhijit Mukherjee Returns to Congress After Four Years in TMC

He described his 2021 decision to join the TMC as a mistake and apologized publicly for it during his return to Congress.
Mukherjee's rejoining was formalized at the Congress state headquarters in Kolkata in the presence of senior party leaders.
He emphasized Congress's role as the only viable alternative to divisive politics in India and pledged to take on any responsibilities assigned to him by the party.
Mukherjee had previously represented the Jangipur constituency as a Congress MP before joining the TMC in 2021, where he remained politically inactive and was denied a nomination for the 2024 elections.
