ABFF Honors Celebrate Taraji P. Henson, Jeffrey Wright, Garrett Morris & Mara Brock Akil
The 6th American Black Film Festival recognizes excellence in the motion picture and television industry, with awards for Excellence in the Arts, Hollywood Legacy, and Industry Visionary.
- Taraji P. Henson, Jeffrey Wright, Garrett Morris and Mara Brock Akil are the honorees of the 6th American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors, set to take place on Sunday, March 3rd at the SLS hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.
- Henson and Wright will receive the Excellence in the Arts Awards for their body of work, which includes notable performances in 'Empire', 'Hidden Figures', 'The Color Purple', 'Basquiat', 'Westworld' and 'American Fiction'.
- Garrett Morris, the first Black cast member of Saturday Night Live, will be honored with the Hollywood Legacy Award, recognizing his enduring contribution to film and television over four decades.
- Mara Brock Akil, screenwriter and producer of 'Girlfriends', 'The Game' and 'Being Mary Jane', will receive the Industry Visionary Award for her commitment to championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the motion picture and television industry.
- The ABFF Fan Favorite Movie of the Year, recognizing outstanding films directed by a person of African descent, will be revealed during the ABFF Honors ceremony, with nominees including 'A Thousand and One', 'American Fiction', 'Origin', 'The Color Purple', 'They Cloned Tyrone' and 'The Equalizer 3'.
