Overview
- A complaint on October 8 reported a newborn taken from a footpath near Pacific Mall/Subhash Nagar, with CCTV showing two boys fleeing on a scooter around 5 a.m.
- Investigators reviewed footage from more than 200 cameras and mapped the suspects’ escape route to identify those involved.
- The scooter was found to be stolen from Naraina, with its custody traced through Anil to Vikas alias Ryon, who is jailed in another case.
- Delhi Police arrested Maya, a house help, along with neighbours Shubh Karan and his wife Sanyogita from Uttam Nagar, while two 16-year-olds were apprehended and sent to an observation home.
- Police allege Maya paid Rs 20,000 to the juveniles to kidnap the infant and hand the child to the couple, and the baby has been safely recovered and reunited with the parents.
