Overview
- Deep Time is now live on ABC platforms, presenting more than 130 cultural stories collected through a consultative process with contributors who retain ownership and approve what is shared.
- The collection spans at least 45 communities and language groups across the continent, from Broome and the Torres Strait to Tasmania, the central Tanami desert and Lake Mungo.
- Users can explore four modes of discovery: Tell me a story, Time, Place and Topics, designed to orient audiences by narrative, chronology, location and theme.
- Featured examples link cultural knowledge with science, including Broome dinosaur footprints, the Thagay constellation, Murujuga rock art, Madjedbebe occupation evidence and Gunditjmara eel-farming systems.
- ABC will host a panel discussion on Monday 20 October at 2:30pm AEDT on the ABC News Channel, with audio on the ABC Listen app and local radio from 8pm local time and on ABC NewsRadio at 9pm AEDT.
