Abandoned Wiltshire Village Imber Sets Limited 2026 Opening Dates

Access is confined to St Giles' Church under MoD safety restrictions.

Overview

  • Imber will open to visitors over Easter weekend, with one report specifying April 4–5 and another noting access from April 4 plus a single day in August.
  • Only St Giles' Church will be open to the public, with all other buildings and areas remaining out of bounds.
  • Vintage ImberBus services will run from outside Warminster rail station, with no advance reservations and tickets purchased on the day from conductors or a station booth.
  • MoD liaison and church custodian Neil Skelton warns that restricted areas may contain unexploded ordnance and says past trespass has driven tighter limits on access.
  • The village was evacuated in 1943 with residents given 47 days' notice for D‑Day training and it has remained under Ministry of Defence control ever since.
