Aaron Phypers Denies Abuse on Stand as Judge Keeps Denise Richards’ Restraining Order in Place

Starkly conflicting testimony sets up further hearings to decide whether the order becomes permanent.

Overview

  • Testifying on Oct. 8, Phypers denied all allegations of physical abuse, rejected claims he made threats, and said prior testimony supporting Richards was “made up.”
  • He told the court Richards called him 17 times after the temporary restraining order was issued and argued she “bruises easily,” asserting her 2022 black eye came from a fall.
  • Richards testified earlier that he caused a black eye and at least three concussions, threatened to make her “disappear,” and that fear kept her from seeking medical care or contacting police.
  • Witnesses for Richards, including Phypers’ cousin Dr. Kathleen McAllister and makeup artist Pamela Brogardi, described seeing injuries and hearing threats such as “I’ll break your f—ing legs.”
  • Judge Mark A. Juhas denied a bid to dissolve the temporary restraining order, which remains in effect as the court set another hearing for Oct. 17, with Nov. 7 reserved if needed.
