Aaron Judge Leaves Door Open to Offseason Elbow Surgery After ALDS Exit

Further evaluation will determine whether the Yankees captain undergoes a procedure after playing through a flexor strain.

Overview

  • Judge said the team will "do some work on" his right elbow and did not rule out surgery, adding, "I'm not a doctor, I don't know."
  • He sustained a right-elbow flexor strain in late July, spent time on the injured list, returned as a designated hitter on Aug. 5, and moved back to right field in September.
  • His arm strength improved but was not fully restored, including a 90.2-mph throw in Game 1 of the ALDS against Toronto.
  • The injury did not diminish his hitting, as he won the 2025 batting title at .331 with 53 home runs and then hit .500 over seven postseason games.
  • If doctors recommend surgery, analysts note his 2026 availability and possible World Baseball Classic participation could be affected, with timing of any procedure still pending.
