Aaron Carter's Former Fiancée Sues Doctors, Pharmacies for Wrongful Death on Behalf of Their Son

Claims highlight alleged over-prescription of hydrocodone, oxycodone, and alprazolam to Carter without medical justification, which allegedly contributed to the singer's fatal accidental drowning.

  • Melanie Martin, former fiancée of the late pop star, Aaron Carter, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of their son, Princeton Carter, against doctors and pharmacies. The lawsuit alleges wrongful over-prescribing of Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, and Alprazolam without medical necessity, which is claimed to have contributed to Carter's fatal accidental drowning.
  • The lawsuit asserts that pharmacies and doctors were aware of Carter's mental conditions and prescribed the medications anyway, leading to his death. Martin is seeking restitution for economic damages, as well as funeral and burial expenses incurred by their son due to his father's death.
  • Aaron Carter died in November 2022 at the age of 34 from an accidental drowning caused by inhaling difluoroethane, an aerosol propellant found in spray cans, along with the anti-anxiety drug, Alprazolam—commonly known as Xanax.
  • The 'I Want Candy' singer's official cause of death has been questioned by Martin, who expressed skepticism about the autopsy report that stated Carter was 'incapacitated while in the bathtub' which led to his drowning. She questioned why Carter would be dressed in his T-shirt and necklace while in the bathtub.
  • In addition to the lawsuit, Carter's twin sister, Angel, set up a memorial spot and shared her brother's final resting place on social media, inviting fans to visit and share their memories of him, nearly a year after his death.
