AAP Alleges 'Tiranga Scam' in Delhi Flag Drive as BJP Denies Wrongdoing

Delhi BJP says procurement was finalized on August 8 through a full tender process.

Overview

  • AAP MP Sanjay Singh accused the BJP-led Delhi government of distributing substandard Tricolours under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and called for arrests.
  • Singh presented documents alleging flags measured 711 mm by 508 mm with four-foot poles instead of the specified 900 mm by 1350 mm with six-foot poles.
  • He said Rs 4 crore was allocated to supply 7 lakh flag sets, claiming an approved cost of Rs 60 per set for items he alleged were worth about Rs 15.
  • AAP contended the tender was opened on August 16 and alleged the contract went to Anirat Contracts Pvt Ltd, naming two other bidders: Spesh for Business Solution and Vinayak Product Company.
  • Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor rejected the claims as false, stating the General Administration Department finalized procurement on August 8 via the government portal and citing earlier alleged irregularities by the Kejriwal administration.
