AAIB Probes Fatal Super King Air Crash as London Southend Airport Stays Closed

Overview

  • On July 13, a Zeusch Aviation-operated Beech B200 Super King Air bound for Lelystad nosedived and exploded into a fireball moments after takeoff, killing all four people on board.
  • Essex Police, the East of England Ambulance Service and Essex County Fire and Rescue declared a serious incident and established a wide cordon around the crash site.
  • Nearby Rochford Hundred Golf Club and Westcliff Rugby Club were evacuated as a precaution due to their proximity to the blaze.
  • All flights to and from London Southend Airport have been cancelled until further notice, with easyJet rerouting affected services to alternative London hubs.
  • Inspectors in aircraft operations, engineering, human factors and recorded data have been deployed by the AAIB to gather evidence and determine the sequence of events.
