Overview
- From April 1, new PAN applicants must provide additional documents, including proof of date of birth, alongside Aadhaar.
- Accepted DoB proofs include a birth certificate, voter ID, passport, driving licence, matriculation certificate, or other government-issued documents.
- Names on PAN will be required to match the applicant’s Aadhaar record exactly under the revised standards.
- Existing PAN application forms will be discontinued after April 1, with new forms to be introduced by authorities.
- Applications should be filed through authorised platforms such as Protean (NSDL), UTIITSL or the Income Tax Department’s e-filing portal, with officials also warning of phishing emails about e-PAN downloads.
