AA: 40% of 2025 Accident Assist Claims Were Collisions Between Moving Vehicles

The AA blames brief lapses of attention for many crashes, urging drivers to slow down in 2026.

Overview

  • The findings draw on 67,000 AA Accident Assist claims recorded from January 1 to December 14, 2025.
  • Coverage reports conflicting figures for incidents involving parked cars, citing either 19% or 9% of claims.
  • About 10% of cases were rear-end impacts in slow or congested traffic.
  • Smaller categories made up few claims: roughly 2% involved kerbs, open doors, debris or walls, and about 1% involved hedges, barriers or deer.
  • AA Accident Assist chief Tim Rankin said crashes often stem from momentary loss of concentration and warned of lasting stress and reduced driver confidence.
