A7 Launches USDT-to-SWIFT Payments Service

U.S. sanctions plus missing details on correspondent banks and conversion mechanics raise doubts about whether the product can function in practice.

Overview

  • A7 presented A7 International on Tuesday, October 13, offering a service that lets customers pay foreign invoices in Tether USDT while recipients receive conventional SWIFT fiat transfers.
  • The company set a fixed fee of 0.3% and says the service is aimed at foreign-trade firms and individual users, accepting USDT on the TRON network and offering dollar, euro, yuan and dirham payouts at launch.
  • U.S. authorities recently designated the A7 Network and FinCEN said A7 sub-agents processed over $17 billion from January 2025 through June 2026, and A7’s announcement did not explain how the service will operate under those actions.
  • A7 has not named correspondent banks, explained the USDT-to-fiat conversion or detailed custody and routing partners, even as it describes KYC/KYB checks and an AI-driven routing system to pick payment routes.
  • The launch follows A7’s rapid growth and ties to PSB, prior scrutiny of its A7A5 token, and recent Russian rules that widen cross-border crypto use, creating legal and compliance pressure that could limit which banks and countries adopt the service.
