A7 in Hamburg Closed for 55‑Hour Weekend Maintenance

The dual weekend shutdowns concentrate repairs into a single window and raise the risk of heavy delays for returning holiday drivers.

Overview

  • The A7 in Hamburg will be fully closed in both directions from Friday, September 11 at 22:00 until Monday, September 14 at 05:00 to carry out asphalt renewal and structural inspections in the Schnelsen and Stellingen tunnel areas.
  • The Köhlbrandbrücke will be fully closed the same weekend, removing a key inner‑city detour and causing the A23 at Dreieck Hamburg‑Nordwest to be directly affected with local diversions via Hamburg‑Eidelstedt.
  • Autobahn GmbH is directing long‑distance traffic to bypass the closures via the A1, A21 and B205 with electronic signage and warns that oversized and heavy transports cannot pass the closed sections.
  • The ADAC warns that return traffic from ending summer holidays in several states will add pressure to road networks and is likely to produce heavy congestion from Friday evening through Sunday.
  • Work north of Hamburg will reduce the A7 to one lane northbound between Holmmoor and Quickborn for resurfacing and further weekend closures on the A1 and additional A7 sections are already scheduled for later in September with some tasks subject to weather delays.
