Overview
- Autobahn GmbH plans to restore traffic toward Görlitz through the south tube on 14 December, subject to successful technical checks and a final fire test.
- The northbound tube toward Dresden has been finished since February and will stay one lane until about mid-January as traffic-control hardware, including the mobile divider, is removed.
- During refurbishment, vehicles have alternated single-file through one tube while crews worked in the other to keep the A4 open.
- Upgrades include new emergency-call cabins, expanded early fire-detection sensors, modernized video and public-address systems, brighter LED lighting, and extensive new cabling.
- Project leaders said the modernization is running roughly on plan at under €60 million, up from a €54 million estimate, with full two-tube operation expected by mid-January 2026.
