Overview
- Autobahn GmbH expects to reopen the A3 between Kreuz Oberhausen-West and Kreuz Breitscheid on Monday morning, saying work progressed on schedule.
- Detoured traffic via the A42, A59 and A524 produced 167 hours of congestion from Monday to Thursday during the closure, up from 74 hours the week before, according to ADAC.
- The A42 stretch between Kreuz Duisburg-Nord and Kreuz Oberhausen-West logged nearly seven times more jam time than in the prior week, ADAC reported.
- The full closure, in place since 7 November, enabled concentrated works at the A3/A40 junction as part of a staged reconstruction.
- The eight-year overhaul launched in 2022 renews aging bridges, ramps and roadway at a junction handling about 130,000 vehicles daily, with projections of roughly 145,000 by 2030 and earlier cost estimates around €365 million.
