Overview

• The collision occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the Bad Oeynhausen interchange on the A2 toward Hannover.
• A 26-year-old Mercedes driver struck a Polish lorry’s mirror while entering the motorway, then hit a horse trailer that detached and overturned.
• The Audi towing the trailer spun into the guardrail, and a 57-year-old BMW driver collided with the Mercedes after it rotated.
• The Mercedes driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the BMW driver was treated at the scene, and the horse sustained light injuries before being walked to Autohof Porta Westfalica and reloaded into another trailer.
• The motorway was initially closed, traffic was routed single-file by 11:30, full reopening followed around 11:45, and police estimate about €80,000 in damage with all vehicles towed.
