Overview
- The horsebox overturned around 10:50am on the southbound A19 between the A690 at Houghton-le-Spring and the A1018 at Seaham.
- The North East Ambulance Service said it was called at 10:55am and dispatched two ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic and a clinical team leader.
- Two patients were treated and discharged at the scene, and two others refused treatment, with no serious injuries reported.
- Police and recovery teams closed one southbound lane, and drivers faced delays of about 45 minutes with congestion stretching roughly two miles.
- All lanes were reported open by about 1:30pm, and officials have not confirmed whether any animals were inside the horsebox.
