A16 Shutdown and A10 Oost Closure Drive Heavy Weekend Delays Across Dutch Roads

Detours created by major closures concentrate traffic, intensifying queues on alternate routes.

Overview

  • Rijkswaterstaat has closed the A16 between Terbregseplein and Ridderkerk southbound from Friday 20:00 to Monday 05:00, warning of long queues after last weekend’s gridlock on the Rotterdam ring.
  • The A10 Oost between knooppunt Watergraafsmeer and knooppunt Amstel is shut for maintenance until Monday 6 October 05:00, with detours via the A1/A9/A2 and expected extra travel time of 30–60 minutes.
  • A collision at knooppunt Princeville on the A16 between a car and a military jeep from exercise Ferocious Bison sent four people to hospital and caused major delays as lanes were restricted.
  • A multi‑agency control on the A7 between Hoogkerk and Leek involving police, Belastingdienst, RDW and Douane led to inspections, fines and at least one vehicle seizure, contributing to queues alongside a separate lane closure for a urgent repair.
  • Repairs to the Molenhoek rail bridge damaged by a police car remain delayed, forcing motorists to detour via Mook until after 8 October, while Rijkswaterstaat reports a tested fix for Groningen’s Euvelgunnerbrug and police probe a stabbing at an A15 tank station near Rhoon.
