A16 Closure and A10 Oost Shutdown Drive Major Weekend Delays Across the Netherlands

Rijkswaterstaat urges people to avoid trips or use alternatives as concentrated maintenance plus unplanned incidents strain the network.

Overview

  • The A16 between Terbregseplein and Ridderkerk is closed southbound from Friday 20:00 to Monday 05:00, with Rijkswaterstaat warning of queues and detours adding more than 30 minutes.
  • The A10 Oost is fully closed between Watergraafsmeer and Amstel until Monday 6 October at 05:00, with diversions via the A1/A9/A2 and expected extra travel times of 30–60 minutes.
  • A car and a military jeep collided on the A16 near knooppunt Princeville, sending four people to hospital and causing heavy delays as part of the roadway was restricted.
  • On the A7 near Hoogkerk–Leek, a rush repair and a separate crash led to long standstills, and a later ANWB update reported a full closure, while a large multi‑agency traffic control using ANPR created additional checks.
  • ProRail’s repair of the damaged Molenhoek railway bridge will take longer, forcing drivers to detour via Mook at least until after 8 October, and Noord‑Holland announced N246 night closures for asphalt works from 22–24 October.
