A13 Berlin-Bound Carriageway Closed Near Radeburg After Low-Loader Tire Failure Triggers Overturn

Police attribute the shutdown to a low-loader’s tire failure that caused a small truck to overturn.

Overview

  • The crash occurred shortly after 17:30 on Tuesday between the Radeburg and Thiendorf interchanges.
  • According to police, a low-loader carrying a construction machine stopped on the shoulder due to a tire defect, and a small truck clipped the trailer’s rear-left corner and tipped onto its side across the carriageway.
  • A 29-year-old occupant of the small truck suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, while the 33-year-old low-loader driver was uninjured.
  • Berlin-bound traffic is being diverted off the motorway, with ADAC reporting roughly five kilometres of tailbacks and about 60 minutes of delay.
  • Recovery and clearance are expected to take several hours with the full closure forecast until around midnight, and police estimate mid five-figure damage including €30,000 to the small truck, €20,000 to the trailer and €500 to the guardrail.
