A12 Southbound Overnight Closures Proceed, One-Night Later Start to Ease Ipswich Town Traffic

A signed diversion via the A14 then the A137 will carry southbound traffic during the overnight closures.

  • National Highways is closing the A12 southbound between Copdock and Langham overnight Monday to Friday from 9pm to 5am.
  • Tuesday’s closure began at 10:30pm instead of 9pm to reduce congestion after Ipswich Town’s match against Watford and to allow supporters to leave Portman Road.
  • The works involve resurfacing the carriageway, refreshing road markings, and replacing worn studs as essential maintenance.
  • Drivers are directed along a fully signed route using the A14 to junction 56 and the A137 through Colchester to rejoin the A12.
  • Scheme delivery lead Simon Amor thanked motorists for their patience and confirmed diversions would remain in place during each nightly closure.
