A12 and A47 Night Closures Announced for Early 2026 as Resurfacing and Flood‑Reduction Works Begin

  • A 20‑mile stretch of the A12 between Junction 29 (Crown Interchange) and Junction 33 (Copdock) will close overnight on weekdays from January 12 to January 31 for resurfacing, refreshed road markings and new road studs.
  • Suffolk Highways will shut the A12 southbound near Melton from January 9 to January 12, with a 39‑mile diversion using the A14 and A140 to keep heavy vehicles on A‑roads.
  • The A47 at Trowse Newton will close eastbound overnight from January 6 to January 16 for flood‑reduction works, with traffic diverted via the A140 and A146.
  • LED lighting upgrades on the A47 near King’s Lynn resume January 5 and run to March 20, with weeknight closures from 8pm to 6am and full weekend shutdowns on January 9–12, January 23–26, February 6–9 and February 20–23.
