A10 East Shutdown and A16 Closure Drive Major Delays as Incidents Compound Disruption

Officials urge drivers to delay trips or share rides to relieve pressure on diversion routes.

Overview

  • The A10 Oost between Watergraafsmeer and Amstel is fully closed for maintenance until Monday 6 October at 05:00, with diversions via the A1, A9 and A2 and expected extra travel times of 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Rijkswaterstaat has again shut the A16 from Terbregseplein to Ridderkerk southbound from Friday 20:00 to Monday 05:00, warning of long queues after last weekend’s severe congestion.
  • A car and a military jeep from exercise Ferocious Bison collided Friday at knooppunt Princeville on the A16, sending four people to hospital and adding to traffic delays in the Breda area.
  • In Groningen, a large multi-agency traffic control on the A7/Leek area produced numerous fines, several arrests and at least one vehicle seizure, with the Belastingdienst reporting €100,000 collected in outstanding debts.
