A-Rod's Slam Corp. to Merge with Satellite Communications Firm Lynk Global

Alex Rodriguez's Slam Corp. plans to merge with satellite communications company Lynk Global, with the new entity expected to be listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange and valued at over $800 million.
Lynk Global, founded in 2017, specializes in direct-to-device connectivity without the need for additional equipment, a capability that rivals like Elon Musk's Starlink hope to offer next year.
Lynk currently operates three communications satellites and has commercial partnerships with Canada and some Pacific island countries.
The company predicts that direct satellite communications will become a $35 billion a year industry by 2030.
The deal between Slam Corp. and Lynk Global is tentatively scheduled to close in the second half of 2024.
