Overview
- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the museum at 11 a.m. on October 5 at the Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Complex in Kollam.
- The institution will be run under the Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi, which has announced workshops, guided walkthroughs and an international exchange programme with Sri Lanka and the United States.
- On view are 12 oil paintings including monumental Lotus Pond works, three sculptures including a Gandhi bronze, original children’s book illustrations, seven Department of Posts stamp designs and rare ceramic experiments.
- The galleries also feature Rajasthani miniatures, Raja Ravi Varma school oils and ten watercolours by Chameli Ramachandran, alongside the large sculptural assemblage In Trance.
- A reconstructed studio displays the artist’s tools and personal artifacts, and his family says the opening realises his wish, with Chameli set to attend as chief guest and Malayalam editions of five co‑authored children’s books to be released.
