Overview

  • The newly completed A Coruña senior residence, located in Eirís, will open by the end of 2025 with 150 public places costing under €1,000 per month.
  • This is the fourth of seven eldercare centers being built in Galicia under a €180 million public-private partnership between Fundación Amancio Ortega and Xunta de Galicia.
  • The 12,000-square-meter facility includes specialized units for Alzheimer’s care, rehabilitation, and physiotherapy, and will be integrated into the regional public eldercare system.
  • Construction of the Ferrol center is nearing completion, while works are ongoing in Ourense and planning continues for Vigo, the final center in the initiative.
  • The project aims to address the needs of Galicia’s aging population, with over 25% of A Coruña’s residents aged 65 or older, and to combat unwanted loneliness among the elderly.
