9-Year-Old Girl Killed in Calgary Crash After Suspect Flees Robbery

Nine-year-old Victoria Desjardins was fatally injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Boxing Day in Calgary, Alberta.
The crash occurred when a stolen van ran a red light at Southland Drive and Macleod Trail, striking the car Victoria was in with her mother and sister.
The driver, identified as 30-year-old Duane Arlen John Nepoose, was fleeing from police after allegedly committing a robbery at a drug store earlier that morning.
Nepoose faces numerous charges, including robbery, dangerous driving causing death, and operating a vehicle without a license or insurance.
Victoria’s family described her as a kind, energetic child who loved the outdoors, and they are calling for justice while requesting privacy to grieve.
