9-Year-Old Boy Killed in Drive-By Shooting at Grandmother's Birthday Party in Illinois Suburb

A 9-year-old boy was fatally shot in the chest during a drive-by shooting while playing outside at his grandmother's birthday party in Franklin Park, Illinois.
The shooting occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday when shots were fired from a moving vehicle into the alley where children were playing.
The boy was taken to the hospital but died from his gunshot wound; no other injuries were reported from the shooting.
Police have a person of interest in custody and located a vehicle suspected to be involved in the fatal drive-by shooting.
A man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of the 9-year-old boy.
