Overview
- In the predawn hours of Sunday, an unnamed 88-year-old resident of Villa Progreso in Berisso used a .22-caliber revolver to repel two intruders who were trying to force entry to his home, and no one was hurt.
- Local officers responded to a 911 call, conducted a neighborhood search, and confiscated the weapon at the scene, finding it loaded with five bullets and one spent shell casing.
- The homeowner was detained after being unable to present legal paperwork for the firearm and is currently at the disposal of the judicial authorities in Buenos Aires Province.
- Fiscal Juan Pablo Mennucci, from UFI N° 5, is heading the inquiry and has ordered crime-scene forensics and the collection of security-camera recordings to identify the suspects.
