An 84-year-old man has died following an explosion at a house in Edinburgh, with two others, aged 43 and 54, taken to hospital for treatment.
The explosion, which occurred in the Baberton area of the city, completely destroyed the house and damaged several nearby properties and cars.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 22:25 on Friday, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that five appliances and specialist services were involved in the operation.
Gas distributor SGNA was brought in to assist emergency crews and is working with authorities to determine the cause of the explosion.
Local residents described the explosion as 'like a bomb going off', with one eyewitness reporting a smell of gas at the scene.
