Iconic Images and Stories Revisited from the Attack that Propelled America into World War II

The attack on Pearl Harbor, which occurred 82 years ago, resulted in the deaths of some 2,400 Americans and the sinking of four battleships.
The attack spurred America into World War II, leading ultimately to Allied victory over the Japanese in the East and Nazis and other Axis powers in the West.
Several iconic images from the attack include the first bomb dropped, the USS Shaw exploding, and Battleship Row on fire.
Despite the devastation, some ships like the USS Shaw and USS West Virginia were repaired and later took part in several engagements in the Pacific.
Today, the USS Arizona, which was hit by eight Japanese bombs and one torpedo, still lies in the harbor as a national memorial.
