8 Dead, 13 Injured in SUV-Truck Collision in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi District

A late-night accident involving a family traveling for a religious ceremony leaves multiple casualties; authorities suspect high speed and negligence as contributing factors.

The collision occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. near the Upni petrol pump on the Sidhi-Bahri Road in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district.
The SUV, carrying 21 passengers en route to a religious ceremony in Maihar, collided head-on with a truck traveling from Sidhi to Bahri.
Eight individuals, including five women and three men, were killed, and 13 others sustained injuries, with nine in critical condition referred to Rewa Medical College for advanced treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest the SUV may have been traveling in the wrong direction, and high speed and negligence are being considered as potential causes of the accident.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced financial aid of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased, ₹1 lakh for the seriously injured, and ₹50,000 for those with minor injuries.
