79-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured in Ingleside Crash

Lake County investigators are reconstructing the crash to determine if the victim’s memory issues contributed to her presence on Big Hollow Road.

Overview

  • At about 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, a 79-year-old woman walking near Leonard Avenue on Big Hollow Road was struck by an eastbound Nissan Altima driven by a 41-year-old Wood Dale resident.
  • First responders found the woman seriously injured and transported her to a local hospital in critical condition.
  • The driver remained at the scene, is cooperating with authorities, and neither she nor a small child in her vehicle sustained injuries.
  • The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team has been assigned to reconstruct the collision and collect evidence.
  • Preliminary reports indicate the victim may have memory impairment and left home without her caretaker’s knowledge, raising questions about supervision.
