Overview
- Emergency services were called to a terraced bungalow on Lorton Grove in Breightmet at around 3:10pm on 5 December.
- Firefighters rescued the occupant and transferred him to North West Ambulance Service before he was taken to hospital.
- Greater Manchester Police later confirmed the man, aged 78, died from injuries sustained in the blaze.
- Three fire engines from Bolton and Farnworth used hose reels to extinguish the fire, with crews on scene for just over two hours.
- Officers kept a small cordon in place as enquiries continued, and an air ambulance was reported to have landed in Dome Park.
