750-Pound Alligator Named Albert Seized from New York Home

The alligator, kept illegally and suffering from health issues, was removed for public safety.

Authorities in Hamburg, New York, seized an 11-foot, 750-pound alligator named Albert from a home where it was kept illegally.
The alligator's owner, Tony Cavallaro, had his license to own Albert expire in 2021 and faced difficulties renewing it.
Albert, who is approximately 30 years old, suffers from blindness in both eyes and spinal complications.
The owner had installed an in-ground swimming pool for Albert and allowed public interaction with the unsecured alligator.
Albert is now under the care of a licensed caretaker until a permanent solution is found.
