7457th MORU Completes Eastern Phoenix 2025 Surge Capacity Drill at Fort Gordon

It validated Active–Reserve interoperability by deploying 38 Soldiers to augment patient reception, triage and hospital intake in a simulated combat surge scenario.

Overview

  • From August 6 to 7, the Richmond-based 7457th Medical Operational Readiness Unit sent 38 Soldiers to Fort Gordon’s Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center as part of Eastern Phoenix 2025.
  • Hosted by Medical Readiness Command, East with support from the Northeast Medical Area Readiness Support Group, the exercise tested rapid bed expansion and large-scale patient influx under combat conditions.
  • Reserve personnel carried out hands-on roles, including vitals checks by Capt. Lakecia O’Neal, monitor operations by Lt. Col. Jason Williams and chart reviews conducted with Maj. Brainerd Ewarien.
  • Integration of Reserve medical staff bolstered Active Component reception and triage teams, ensuring seamless end-to-end patient movement from aircraft arrival through hospital intake.
  • Official imagery published August 10–11 documents the unit’s performance and will guide future evaluations of medical surge efficiency and interoperability.
