74-Year-Old Killed, Another Injured in Tompkins Square Park Shooting

Gunfire erupted in the East Village park Friday morning, marking the latest in a series of violent incidents this year.

The shooting occurred around 9:50 a.m. near East 7th Street and Avenue A.
The 74-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries at Bellevue Hospital.
The younger victim, 44, was also shot in the back and is in stable condition.
Police are searching for a suspect described as wearing a black jacket and white mask.
The park has seen multiple shootings in recent months, linked to ongoing criminal activity.
