Overview
- Police were called at 6.45pm on Sunday, 7 December, to Hirst Mill Crescent after a silver Range Rover Evoque went into the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
- Officers entered the water, with PC Everett bringing the driver to the towpath, and CPR was performed until paramedics arrived.
- The 74-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a collision investigation is under way.
- Detectives are asking anyone who saw the vehicle enter the water to contact 101 or use West Yorkshire Police live chat quoting log 1396 of 7 December.
- About 30 minutes earlier the same patrol reported its vehicle was struck by a brick in Highfield, which is subject to a separate inquiry.
