73-Year-Old Man Dies in Shubenacadie House Fire

A New Year's Eve fire in Nova Scotia claimed one life while two other occupants escaped uninjured.

Emergency services responded to a house fire on Highway 215 in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
A 73-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 65-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman escaped without injuries.
The house suffered significant smoke damage, but the fire is not being treated as suspicious by authorities.
The RCMP is investigating the incident with assistance from the fire marshal and medical examiner.
A section of Highway 215 was temporarily closed to allow emergency crews to respond but has since reopened.
