Overview

• Layla Chrissa Clemons and Jaea Chatman, both 17, were identified by the Yolo County coroner as the victims of the crash near Jefferson Boulevard and Bevan Road on August 2.
• Officers with the West Sacramento Police Department responded to the collision at around 9 p.m. and launched an overnight probe that pinpointed a suspect vehicle.
• On August 3, 71-year-old Fair Oaks resident David Alison Walker was arrested in Vacaville with assistance from the Vacaville Police Department and faces two counts of murder and two counts of hit-and-run causing death or injury.
• The investigation into the circumstances of the hit-and-run remains active as authorities continue collecting evidence and witness accounts.
• Families of the victims and city leaders have called attention to dangerous conditions on Jefferson Boulevard and are pressing for immediate installation of lighting, bike lanes and road shoulders.
