7-Year-Old Girl Killed by Falling Boulder at Nevada Ski Resort

The tragic accident at Diamond Peak Ski Resort has been ruled accidental, with no foul play involved, as the community mourns the loss of Adelyn Grimes.

Adelyn Grimes, 7, of Reno, Nevada, was fatally struck by a falling boulder at Diamond Peak Ski Resort on March 29, 2025.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death accidental, caused by blunt force trauma to the neck and chest.
Emergency responders, including ski patrol and local fire services, provided aid, but the child succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there was no foul play and described the incident as a tragic accident.
The resort and local community, including the Sugar Bowl race team, have been deeply affected, with counseling offered to staff and condolences extended to the family.
