7-Year-Old Found Safe After Paddleboarding 1.5-Mile Trek Through Hazardous Florida Creek

  • Greyson Hardy, 7, went missing June 2 while paddleboarding under the State Road 293 bridge in Bluewater Bay and was found safe June 3 about 1.5 miles upstream.
  • The boy navigated a tree-shrouded blackwater stream with fast currents and submerged obstacles before rescue.
  • His first words after being located were “Do you have any food?” according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Captain Keith Clark.
  • The search incorporated marine units, drones and personnel from the FWC, Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, North Bay Fire Department and Eglin Air Force Base.
  • After his rescue, Greyson was evaluated at a local hospital and officials report that he is doing well.
