• Pilot Monroe Smith and photographer Christopher Dougherty were killed when the 6ABC news helicopter, Chopper 6, crashed in a wooded area in Washington Township, New Jersey, while returning from an assignment at the Jersey Shore.
• The helicopter was last seen over Wharton State Forest before the crash.
• The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the crash, with a preliminary report expected within 10 to 15 days.
• The helicopter was a 2013 American Eurocopter AS-350A-STAR leased from North Carolina-based U.S. Helicopters Inc.
