Overview
- Crews used a crane to lift the roughly 12,000-pound tree onto a flatbed for transport, handled by Brightview Landscaping.
- The spruce was selected by the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events as Chicago’s 112th official Christmas tree.
- It stands about 67–68 feet tall, and veteran handlers say it may be the largest the city has displayed when height and width are combined.
- The tree was transported from Glenview and is scheduled to be raised in Millennium Park this week before decoration for the Nov. 21 ceremony.
- After the holiday display, the city will mulch the tree for park use, while the Masons plan to plant seeds from collected pinecones at an Indiana tree farm.
