£6.5m Worth of Stolen Luxury Cars Repatriated to UK
A sophisticated international car smuggling ring was dismantled, leading to the recovery of 30 high-value vehicles from Thailand.
- The cars, including a Lamborghini Huracán Spyder, were stolen using fraudulent finance agreements in the UK between 2016 and 2017.
- The vehicles were shipped to Thailand, where they were sold through legitimate dealerships by an organized criminal network.
- The investigation, dubbed Operation Titanium, was launched after stolen cars were discovered at Southampton Port.
- The mastermind of the operation, a Thai national, is currently in custody awaiting trial, while four UK arrests resulted in no charges.
- The recovered cars have significantly depreciated in value but are being returned to their original owners, including finance companies and dealerships.
